Chris the inspiration for Race for Life

STAFF at Romsey's Boots raised £3,500 for the Cancer Research charity in Sunday's 5k Race for Life fund-raiser on Southampton Common.

A team of 13 from the store in The Hundred, including Chris Langsdon, diagnosed with brain tumours earlier this year, took part, along with Chris's daughter, Carly and her friend.

Chris has always been at the heart of raising cash for charity and could often be seen with other staff dressed in pink pyjamas and other costumes during events at the store.

Said team manager, Tracy Whitton: "Chris just loves to invent new costumes and get staff involved. Every year, we'd dress up for Breast Cancer and raised lots of money.

"She's had chemotherapy and is now undergoing radiotherapy. We did it for Chris, who's fantastic. Being who she is, she didn't want to be left out and we pushed her in a wheelchair.

"Even though she's going through intensive treatment, she crossed the line with her team and 10,000 other women who supported this year's event. It was a fabulous day, graced by sunshine and surrounded by thousands of great people."

Others is the Boots team were Hannah Whitton, Charlotte Clayton, Jodie Collis, Sue Collis, Ed Carter, Sheila Nevines, Celia Stanbury, Eleanor Marshall, Pam Marshall, Tam Snape and store manager, Marina Caddy, who said: "There were some very brave people there. It was inspiring to be part of it."
