STAFF and pupils are celebrating at a Cheriton school after it received a glowing report from inspectors.
The village's primary school was given an "outstanding" rating by Ofsted officials, who visited the school in May this year.
In a report, Michael Pye, an Ofsted inspector, said: "The school provides an outstanding education for its pupils, combining high academic standards and achievement, with excellent personal development of pupils.

"Underpinning these high academic standards is the positive attitude of pupils. They say they feel respected, that adults value their views, and consequently want to do well."
He reserved special praise for new head teacher Teresa Sullivan, who only joined the school in January. He added: "The new head teacher is already having a positive impact, and has quickly set a very clear vision for the school, based around further improvement.
"Already, writing targets have been more closely defined, enabling pupils to have a clear understanding of the next steps."
Asked what she thought had contributed to the "outstanding" grade, Miss Sullivan, said: "I think it was the sense of the whole team - everyone works really hard, especially the children. We were all delighted with the report.
"It was the family ethos of the school that the inspector really liked and the fact we're always striving to improve ourselves. It was also recognition of the excellent results we have over a number of years."
She said the school, which has 105 pupils, has already addressed one of the report's concerns by giving teachers individual subjects to be responsible for. This, she said, would enable the school to have teachers that specialise in particular areas, such art, history or geography.
