Please leave memorial intact
SIR - Next to little Olivia Gallienne's memorial bench, in St John's churchyard, Alresford, there is a small plot for a few plants.
These are there for the enjoyment of passers by and anyone who sits awhile.
Those many people who knew her, know that most of her short life was spent in hospital wards and therefore she rarely had the chance to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
It seemed fitting, therefore, that her final surrounds were as near a likeness of a garden as is possible.
Last weekend, these plants were removed by persons unknown.
It is unlikely that they were vandalised, as they were removed with care and were not thrown down in the vicinity.
If the person who removed these plants would like to get in touch with me, I will supply him/her, with all the plants they require, free of charge.
Olivia's family have suffered enough grief over the past three years and it was her mother Katie who has suffered more grief on finding the plants had been taken.
Katie has asked that the memorial to Olivia be left untouched and left for those who wish to sit and reflect in peace.
J Gallienne,
Perins Close, Alresford.
