How can this rent rise be justified?
SIR - I trust the landlords who own the shop that Sussex Stationers traded from are duly pleased with themselves, being that another worthwhile retailer has had to quit Winchester due to ludicrous rents.
How can the landlord justify a large increase in these troubled financial times?
I am sure that the price of books will now increase in Winchester, being that there will be little competition with Sussex going.
All I hope now is that the shop remains empty so that the landlord gets no income at all from being so greedy.
Sussex, you will be sorely missed in this city, but thank you for running a business that for once flew in the face of "Rip Off Britain".
Richard Hall,
King Alfred Place,
Winchester.
